Both Allen & Overy (A&O) and Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) made hires to strengthen European offices last week, while Gateley hired two partners to bolster its London offering and Arthur Cox turned in-house.

Osborne Clarke started last week with a hire from King & Wood Mallesons in the City but other laterals saw a focus on the Middle East with Boodle Hatfield’s London hire dealing with clients in the region as well as central Asia while Pinsent Masons and Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) both hired in the UAE.

Last week saw Clyde & Co expand its transportation finance practice in the City, while Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan expands its litigation offering in Houston, and peer group firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher expanded its M&A offering in Singapore.

Revolving doors: Clydes and Hunton & Williams make local hires while Squire Patton Boggs brings a team into its Paris office
Last week saw Clyde & Co expand its employment and personal injury practices with hires from DWF and Hill Dickinson, while Hunton & Williams grew its City energy and infrastructure practice. In Paris, Squire Patton Boggs expanded its international disputes practice with a double partner hire as well as a team of associates.

Approaching the holiday season, Asia, Europe and the US emerged as hubs for partner moves with Herbert Smith Freehills losing a prominent partner in Japan to Morrison & Foerster – which also acquired a German partner from in-house. In New York, Dentons made a rare lateral from Baker & McKenzie while Norton Rose Fulbright also hired from in-house.

Revolving Doors: NRF makes a key finance hire in the City, Eversheds bets on Scottish real estate and Dentons hires a team in Paris
Last week saw Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) and Duane Morris grow their capital markets and employment teams in the City respectively, while Eversheds looked north of the border with an addition in its Edinburgh office. Meanwhile, Dentons hired a 5-lawyer team from Dechert in Paris.
