Promotions wrap: Gowling WLG makes up first round of partners as OC, Bond Dickinson and DAC release figures

In a busy week for partner promotions, recently-merged Gowling WLG has completed its first round, while Osborne Clarke (OC), Bond Dickinson and DAC Beachcroft also released their figures.

Gowling WLG has promoted two directors to its partnership, taking the total number of partners in the UK to 141. The firm made up Chris Towle, who is a corporate lawyer and advises clients on all forms of corporate transactions, restructurings and governance, and Michael Twining, a real estate specialist with wide experience of acting for property funds, institutional investors and developers.

The firm’s chief executive David Fennell (pictured) said: ‘The quality of our newly promoted partners is as high as ever. Chris and Mike are two truly fantastic lawyers with outstanding technical skills. They are committed to excellence in client service and I am very pleased to welcome them to our partnership.’

Meanwhile, OC has made up three partners in the UK, after three were made up in Germany in January. Jeffery Chang and Matthew Bodfield are both in the firm’s corporate team, with Mary Lawrence in litigation. Bodfield is the only London promotion, while Chang is based in Reading and Lawrence in Bristol.

In January OC promoted three partners in the corporate department in Cologne: Karsten Lisch, Christoph Boeminghaus and Benjamin Monheim.

UK managing partner Ray Berg said: ‘Each individual demonstrates commitment to providing high quality advice and guidance, contributes to our on-going international success, and delivers on our promise of helping our clients achieve success in tomorrow’s world.’

Nationally, Bond Dickinson has promoted four partners, with two in Newcastle, one in Leeds and another in Southampton. Both Richard Collins and Andrew Parsons work in the firm’s dispute resolution practice, while Ian Atkinson has been promoted to construction partner and Jackie Grey in projects & procurement. The firm has made up one more partner than last year, when it made up three.

Finally, DAC Beachcroft has promoted twelve to the partnership, with two in London. The promotions are made across claims solutions, global insurance, corporate and commercial and clinical risk. The firm made two fewer promotions this year than the last, when it made up 15 partners.
