KPMG has appointed a new global head of legal services, replacing outgoing legal head Stuart Bedford with company veteran Konstantin von Busekist (pictured).
Bedford joined the company in 2023 from Ahren Innovation Capital, where he spent just over a year as general counsel. He was initially head of law at KPMG, becoming head of global legal services in October 2024.
Earlier in his career, Bedford spent over 20 years at Linklaters, including over 17 as a partner. During this time, he worked in a number of leadership roles, including head of corporate for Asia (2012-14) and London (2014-16), consumer sector co-head from 2007 to 2014, and global co-head of the technology sector from 2018 to 2022.
Von Busekist is based in Düsseldorf, and has spent nearly two decades at KPMG Law, progressing through a number of increasingly senior positions, including managing partner for Germany from 2021 to 2025 and EMA lead from 2023.
He began his new role as global head of legal services on 1 October, and will continue to lead the strategy of KPMG’s global law firm.
In a Linkedin post announcing his appointment, von Busekist said: ‘As of today, I am taking on the role of Global Head and Managing Partner of KPMG Law. I am delighted by the trust placed in me and honoured to help guide our global network into its next chapter.’
Later in the post he outlines areas of focus in his new role, which include embedding AI in legal work as well as expanding the network and developing multidisciplinary solutions in collaboration with the company’s Audit, Tax, Deal Advisory, and Consulting arms.
