Dechert has hired a four-lawyer team from Orrick into its global finance practice in London, the firm announced today (Monday 2 June). The team includes partners Sushila Nayak, who is dual-qualified in New York and England and Wales, and structured credit specialist James Jirtle. Nayak joins as a leader of Dechert’s London-based CLO team, and will work closely with Aaron Scott, who joined the firm in a vertical move from Paul Hastings in April 2023.
The firm has also lost two partners, with international capital markets team lead Patrick Lyons and capital markets partner Jennifer Rees leaving for the London corporate practice at Baker Botts. Lyons is ranked by the Legal 500 as a leading partner for emerging markets, while Rees is a next-generation partner for both emerging markets and debt capital markets.
