Ex-A&O Shearman practice heads ditch big law to start boutique practices in Europe

Three top partners across A&O Shearman’s tax and employment practices have left the firm to start their own boutiques in Europe, including legacy A&O’s former global heads of tax and employment.

The three partners – former global head of tax Gottfried Breuninger in Munich, former global employment and benefits head Markulf Behrendt in Hamburg, and tax partner Jean Schaffner in Luxembourg – each left the firm at the end of its last financial year in April.
