Legal 500 EMEA: Which countries have seen the biggest rankings increases?

Last month’s launch of Legal 500 EMEA 2024 featured rankings for 15,496 firms throughout the EMEA region, alongside the individual rankings of thousands of lawyers across multiple business practice areas. After crunching the numbers, our analysis revealed that the growth in both firm and individual rankings was consistent across all regions with countries from Africa, Europe, the CIS and Middle East all well represented. We’ve compiled our findings into various top ten charts focusing on firms and individuals.

Table toppers – the law firms leading the pack in the latest Legal 500 research

Almost 1,200 firms have secured spots in the most recent UK Legal 500 Solicitors research, which provides law firms, in-house counsel and individuals with accurate and in-depth analysis of the best firms and lawyers working across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Between them the firms, roughly half of which are in London, share almost 10,000 practice rankings, around 4,500 of which are in the capital. In addition to the practice area rankings, there are also more than 12,300 individual lawyer rankings – almost half of which have been awarded to London-based lawyers. The latest merger news to hit the headlines involves two firms which have been down this road before – Womble Bond Dickinson and BDB Pitmans.

On the Womble Bond side, the 2013 union of Newcastle’s Dickinson Dees and Bristol’s Bond Pearce created Bond Dickinson, which then combined with US firm Womble Carlyle in 2016.
