Latham & Watkins has promoted 36 associates into the firm’s partnership, with 80% of promotions coming in the US.
This marks the second year running that the firm has made up no new associates to partner in the Middle East and APAC, though last year it did promote a counsel to partner in both Dubai and Riyadh.
Earlier in the year the firm promoted 22 counsel to partner, taking the total number of new partners for the year to 58 – broadly in line with last year’s cohort of 59, comprised of 40 associates and 19 counsel.
Four London lawyers have made the cut: Michael Houlder and Harry Redford in the M&A and private equity practice, Aaron Bradley in the transactional tax group, and Philipp Hagenbuch in the banking and private credit team.
Of the 29 new partners in the US, 10 are in New York, while the Bay Area and Los Angeles were in joint second place with five partners apiece.
Across the global promotions round, banking and private credit and M&A and private equity were the two largest groups, with eight and seven partners promoted respectively.
‘Today is an important and exciting day for our firm as we recognise and celebrants an amazing group of lawyers, welcoming them as partners and counsel,’ said firm chair and managing partner Rich Trobman.
‘They have contributed significantly to the growth, success and culture of Latham and their promotions highlight the incredible depth of telnet we have at our firm,’ he added. ‘Each lawyer embodies our hallmark values of teamer, dedication, and exceptional client service. – and each is committed to our shared pursuit of excellence in delivering outstanding results for our clients.’
The promotions are effective as of 1 January 2027.
