Kirkland, McGuireWoods lead on $67bn US utility tie-up

Kirkland & Ellis and McGuireWoods have bagged the lead roles in the latest megadeal of the year, which sees US energy giant NextEra acquire Dominion Energy, a Virginia-headquartered company that is a key provider the world’s largest data centre market.

The deal, agreed on Friday and valued at just under $67bn, will create one of the world’s largest energy infrastructure companies in the world, with an approximate market capitalisation of $249bn and an enterprise value of $420bn.
