Leaders at Freshfields are considering opening up the firm’s AI unit to external investment, discussing carve-out options that they believe could create a company worth ‘billions,’ according to a report in the Financial Times.
The discussions were revealed by the leak of an internal email exchange in which global managing partner Alan Mason and US corporate and M&A co-head Ethan Klingsberg discussed placing Freshfields’ AI business into ‘a separate legal entity.’
