Dentons and Osborne Clarke have taken the lead advisory roles on LegalTechTalk’s sale to B2B events organiser Hyve, as the tech event looks to expand across the Atlantic.
The deal will see the UK legal events company expand its footprint across Europe, as well as hosting a US-based event for the first time, with the first LegalTechTalk USA set for December 2027 in Miami Beach.
Dentons is acting for Hyve, led by corporate partner Joseph Collingwood, based in London, and tax partner Lorna McCaa in Glasgow.
Osborne Clarke is advising LegalTechTalk, with a London-based team led by corporate partner and media and entertainment specialist Ken Wilkinson, and including tax partner James Meakin and UK incentives team lead Michael Carter.
The tie-up comes three years after LegalTechTalk was founded by Bradley Collins and Mikkel Jensen, and as the AI boom continues to push demand for understanding how new technology will impact the sector.
Commenting on the sale, Collins said: ‘When we launched LegalTechTalk, we always believed the opportunity extended far beyond Europe.
‘Our USA launch is an exciting next step, and Hyve’s proven track record of successfully taking premium event brands into new international markets made them the right partner for us,’ he concluded.
Jensen added: ‘Joining Hyve gives us access to proven best practice across event operations and customer experience, alongside opportunities to strengthen our meetings programme and develop new products and services.’
Hyve was also acquired last month by private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, from its previous owners Providence Equity Partners and Searchlight Capital Partners.
Latham & Watkins advised Hellman on its acquisition, with a cross-border team drawn from the firm’s offices in London, the US, Europe, and Asia, led by London corporate partner David Walker.
Acting for Providence and Searchlight was Linklaters, led by global financial sector co-head Alex Woodward and private equity and capital solutions partner Tom Gavin, both based in London.
Recently, Linklaters firmwide managing partner Paul Lewis spoke at LegalTechTalk’s flagship London event alongside Legora CEO, Max Junestrand, where the pair discussed the growing capabilities of AI and how firms can remain competitive as the technology becomes increasingly powerful and accessible.
