Rio Tinto fills top legal role with senior BP hire

Mining giant Rio Tinto has appointed a new chief legal officer, hiring BP’s deputy general counsel Trudi Charles to fill the position.

Charles, who will take up the role on 1 August 2026, is replacing Isabelle Deschamps, who has held the role for just under five years and will depart the company this summer.
