A banking and capital markets expert, David Ballegeer leads Linklaters’ Belgian ESG practice and coordinates the team’s advice to corporates, sponsors, and financial institutions on ESG legislation, regulation, and sustainable finance products.
Ballegeer brings his expertise in sustainability-linked and green frameworks to project finance, acquisition finance, and bond and hybrid debt issuance matters, counting major domestic energy companies and corporates among his clients. A key repeat client is transmission system operator Elia Transmission Belgium, whom Ballageer advised on its €800m green notes issuance and separately on its €1.26bn sustainability-linked revolving credit facility.
In a landmark cross-border deal which will help augment clean energy capacity in New York, Ballegeer advised Elia Group regarding the €400m financing and acquisition of a 35.1% stake in renewable energy transmission and generation platform energyRe Giga.
