Heading the ESG and natural capital teams at Gowling WLG, Ben Stansfield is regularly entrusted to advise on environmental permitting, sustainability regulation, and biodiversity net gain issues.

Stansfield demonstrates a notable recent track record advising on the drafting of nature conservation covenants, acting for both landowners and DEFRA-designated responsible bodies. The mandates are key in enabling large-scale and transformative biodiversity habitat protection programmes.

Stansfield remains a stand-out thought leader across the sustainability, nature, and carbon landscapes, regularly lending his expertise to conferences, webinars, and articles. Stansfield currently serves as a vice chair of the American Bar Association’s ESG and sustainability sub-committee.
