Irwin Mitchell promotes four non-lawyers in record partnership round

Irwin Mitchell announced yesterday (17 April) that it is to promote to partnership four non-lawyers in a bumper round of promotions.

The four will be promoted to rank of associate director, which is the equivalent of partner at the Major UK firm. They are: Manchester-based head of communications, Mark Duffell; head of talent and resourcing, Janet Sandford, and two from the operations team, David Robinson and Danny Varhalamas.

Freshfields latest to promote new partners with 14 making the grade

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed 14 new partners, with just under half of the promotions made in London.

The Magic Circle firm made up six associates in the City, boosting partner headcount in its corporate, finance, dispute resolution, employment and tax practices.

Emerging markets dominate 2012 partner promotions round

Good news for senior associates in emerging markets: there are now more partners than ever being made up in Asia. If you are an aspiring associate in Asia or Australia you stand a much greater chance of making partner at a UK firm now than five years ago. According to data collected by LB, this year the UK’s top 25 firms made up 48 partners in Asia, compared to just 26 in 2008.
