PWC LEGAL LOOKS FOR REGIONAL GROWTH

Addleshaw Goddard and DLA Piper veteran Neal Shepherd was recruited by PwC Legal to head a regional push out of its Manchester office. The accountancy giant is targeting the north of England, with Shepherd focusing on mid-market M&A and expanding the team into PwC business areas, including employment and pensions.

 

ALLEN & OVERY INCREASES ASSOCIATE AND TRAINEE PAY

After freezing junior pay earlier in the year, Allen & Overy increased salaries for trainees and associates, bringing it in line with Magic Circle competitors. First-seat trainees will now receive £40,000, while those with three year post-qualification experience will get £93,500.

 

KING & WOOD MALLESONS NAME DROPS SJ BERWIN

A year after merging, King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin has cut the SJ Berwin from its title, leaving just the Asian powerhouse’s brand, after the firm said it had successfully transitioned the brand in Europe.

 

QUINN EMANUEL SETS UP CITY ANTITRUST PRACTICE

US firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan brought in partner Boris Bronfentrinker from Hausfeld & Co to establish a London competition practice. Bronfentrinker’s hire forms part of a wider strategy that saw the firm recently open an office in Brussels.
