FRESHFIELDS PLANS VANCOUVER HUB

After launching a nearshoring office in Manchester, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is planning to open another outpost in Vancouver, Canada. The office is set to cover a range of business services roles. The firm is looking to hire at least 20 legal services employees to launch the office.

NORTH WEST LEGAL CONFIRMS £10m PANEL

DAC Beachcroft, Hill Dickinson, Weightmans and Geldards were appointed as partners on the North West Legal Consortium’s £10m legal panel, positioning them to work closely with local authorities associated with over 40 councils in the North West of England. DLA Piper, Addleshaw Goddard and Blake Morgan have also won places on the consortium’s panel, which comprises 18 firms in total.

 

FOUR CANDIDATES UP FOR BAKERS’ GLOBAL CHAIR

With Baker & McKenzie’s global chair Eduardo Leite set to step down at the end of October, Latin America chair Claudia Prado, London managing partner Paul Rawlinson, EMEA chair Gary Senior and former Paris managing partner Eric Lasry have thrown their hats in the ring to take the top job. The successor is expected to be announced before the October annual partnership meeting.
