In-house: Dialight appoints first GC following management shake-up

UK-based electronics business Dialight has appointed its first general counsel (GC), bringing in Chris Fussell from business process and technology services provider Xchanging.

Fussell will take on the role of GC and company secretary as the industrial LED producer looks to level up its business following a reshuffle of management. The wider role includes the company secretary position previously held by Nick Giles who moved from Dialight earlier this year to become company secretary for packaging business RPC Group.

Fussell leaves Xchanging after 14 years starting as a legal counsel, moving up to the position of general counsel and company secretary at the beginning of 2015.

After beginning his career at legacy Beachcroft in 1999, Fussell took up the position of assistant solicitor at legacy Norton Rose before moving on to Xchanging.

Fussell said it was an ‘exciting move’ becoming Dialight’s first GC. He added: ‘There have been various changes at Dialight in the last few years – changes to personnel at board and executive management level and changes to the group’s strategy. This is a great opportunity to work alongside a strong and ambitious team to help Dialight achieve its strategic goals.’

Other recent in-house appointments include Time Inc’s appointment of Lauren Ezrol Klein as GC. Klein will succeed Lon Jacobs who leaves in September making the move up to the position of top awyer after 20 years with the magazine. Canadian drugmaker Valeant Pharmaceuticals has also brought in senior vice president and GC at eye care company Alcon Laboratories Christina Ackermann as its new GC.
